MAQUAM Multiplier Event [April 29, 2022]

Erasmus+ Marine & Maritime Vocational Education and Training

Erasmus+ is the EU program to support education, training, youth, and sport in Europe. The Erasmus+ program places a strong focus on social inclusion, the green and digital transitions, and promoting young people’s participation in democratic life. With a budget of €26.2 billion, Erasmus+ 2021-2027 offers more mobility and cooperation opportunities than ever before. It supports priorities and activities set out in the European Education Area, Digital Education Action Plan, and the European Skills Agenda.

Strategis Maritime Center of Excellence has been awarded grant-funding for the “International Qualification on Marine and Tourism for the Mediterranean harbours – MaQuaM” project. The MaQuaM project for nautical & coastal tourism is co-funded under the Erasmus+ KA2 program: Cooperation for innovation and the exchange of Good Practices – Strategic Partnerships for Adult Education (n. 2020-1-IT01-KA202-008459).

The aim of the MAQUAM project is human resource development in the nautical sector favoring the integration between shipbuilding production chains and the growing importance of port and tourist services. A key outcome of the project is an ECVET certified [European credit system for vocational education & training] training program developing the professional profile of “Manager of integrated services for boating and coastal tourism.”

The “Erasmus+ Marine & Maritime VET” is organized as a MAQUAM multiplier event for the announcement of the pilot training program “International Qualification on Marine and Tourism for the Mediterranean Harbors.” This MaQuaM program will be offered by Strategis Maritime Center of Excellence in collaboration with the GMC Maritime Training Center & Maritime Academy from May to October 2022, free of charge to a group of 30 Greek students.

“Erasmus+ in Marine & Maritime VET” brings together stakeholders of the VET community [Vocational Education & Training] from our region to promote the priorities and activities of Erasmus+ 2021-2027; present cases of local Erasmus+ projects in the marine and maritime sector; and identify opportunities for new training projects that advance the Digital Education Action Plan and the European Skills Agenda.

The Strategis Maritime ICT Cluster organizes “Erasmus+ Marine & Maritime Training” as a multiplier event for the MaQuaM Erasmus+ project. It is a free event and open to the public, to be held at the Piraeus Business Center, Ag. Dimitriou 41, Pireas, 18546, on April 29, 2022 from 14:00-17:00.
